| Hi there, do the parts 1, 2 and 3 have special names? Once I read for number 3 "Ferret". Thanks. Michael |

| Hi,
1st message :
You're absolutely right, n°3 is called the "Ferret", for n°1 is called the "trèfle" (like the clover in game cards), and n°2 is called the cordelette (small rope).
2nd message :
This a perfect case of what you call a double-fourragère, and the part you circled is called a "tour de bras". It is accorded from 15 citations to the order of the Army, for LH solo, but starting 9/12 citations with other decorations...
I would be curious to know from which corps you took this photo, isn't it the 3rd REI or the RICM, they are the only two who got these decorations together...
If you need anything else, I would be glad to help

| Hi again,
my question according to #2 is special to the knot, not the string.
In German this special knot is called Kapuzinerknoten (knot of the Kapuziner monks rope) or Vorhandknoten.

| Hi again,
Sorry I checked a bit too quickly, I do understand German with more or less ease, but I did understood the name of that knot. The knot type is known as "noeud-double" or "noeud à quatre tours", mostly used in speleology, but used in the army to make the fourragère. Otherwise it doesn't have a special name...
Greetings,
Magala |

| Hi Magala,
watch this monks/moine, these are from the Kapuziner
http://www.infag.at/Kapuziner_Provinzneu2007_Leitung_gross.jpg
They have knots at the and of these white string, and these knots are called kapuziner´s knot, in German Kapuzinerknoten.
Or Vorhandknoten (called in marine and naval use, or like you wrote in speleology), it is a special way you build this knot, perhaps (I am not sure if it is) you can translate it with overhand knot.
Regards

| Hi everyone !
I would like to give you a more acurate answer about the "double fourragère"
Indeed the 3° REI and the RICM have a double fourragère which have a red (LH) braid and a red/green (14-18) braid; in fact both together are only one "fourragère", the red cordon is a "fantoche/fantasy" part "making nice" !
fourragère with double red (LH) braid could exist, but there is no unit which obtained it .
Yours
