Bonjour a tous again ,

Could someone please explain to me which units (and when) used this badge and was it worn in beret or as a pocket badge?
I know that it was worn in Algeria, but want to know the units as well.

Hi Harri

Your badge is this of the 21 Infantry division during Algerian War . This badge existed only on metal , it was worn on the pocket by Staff of this D.I , like by the " Commandos de Chasse " ( hunting commandos ) on the black beret , in fact by the commandos who didn't have a specific badge for their unit.
On of the unit what i know who worn this badge is the Commando V 48 then
L 133 of the 94 Infantry Regiment .

The next logical question is was it worn by any Legion units? It is sometimes offered in some non French ebays as Legion insignia, but on the other hand, in ebay all French insignias seem to be "Legion or para insignias."

Such i'm not really sure at 100 % ,i don't think this badge was worn by any Légion unit .
Because like it was a division badge ,it was worn only by the staff of this division and Hunting Commandos assigned at the AURES NEMENTCHA Sector , as far as they didn't had made a specific insigna for there units .

This is the hunting commandos who i know assigned to the Legion
_ The DAN SAN Commando was assigned to the 1 REP in March 1958 but it come from the Marines troops .

Some Unit of Foreign Légion had have a HARKA COMMANDO like the 13 DBLE ( Harka 8 ) who had a specific metal insigna and the HARKA COMMANDO From 2 REI who worn a specific patch .

as far as I know 1er REC was in 1958 with 21st Div. (Kenchela sector) as 13e DBLE (General Reserve unit) but I don't think any Legionnaire wearing another beret badge than the Legion one , maybe some local partisans unit attached to the corps and not allowed the green beret ?
