Hello !

I've made this little frame with current Russian medals and awards about Caucasian operations (fightings in Chechnya and Daghestan)...1 medal should be from the Interior Ministry, an other medal from the Defense Ministry and other badges and cross medal are unofficial for veterans, is it correct ?
By the way, it's nice on my wall.

Nice display!!! I'm not sure about the badges; not my thing... But the two medals are from Veterans organisations and have nothing "official". BTW, I'm not sure (and I believe), but no medal has yet been issued by the Federation of Russia for combats in Chechnya or Daghestan...

You are fully right about the document : it indicates the medal is a MVD's one (Ministry of Interior). My mistake probably, as I confused the one you posted with a quite similar one (without de dates 1994-2004) that is issued, as far as I remember, by the Russian Awards Committee. if you interested in, I will be able later to post a pic of the medal (I think I have the doc too...). But the medal you posted (with the dates) is not shown in the book Medals of the Ministries and Departments of the Russian Federation, by Ilya Kuzmichev and Alexandr Trifon, published in 2006 by Bratishka Editions (Moscow). This catalogue is the most complete and exhaustive existing today about the Medals of the Ministries and Departments of the Russian Federation. Are presented the medals (obverse + reverse), docs, regulations...
It deals with medals from March 1992 to December 2005. maybe your medal has been instituted later... I will have to check...

About the other medal, often called for antiterrorism, or counterterrorism; here is the doc of this medal. No indication about its origin. Certainly not an offcial one.

in 2003 I was assigned to serve in Kosovo for the UN forces, I met a UN Russian Police Officer who offered me the same badge than the one in the second rank at the second place. he explained that it was made to commemorate the second campaign in TCHETCHENIE. This guy received two models, a first one for a first mission in this place, and this second one, several years later.

Hello Christophe,

No number on my MVD medal...and since it's in it's frame, difficult to see the reverse...But I don't remember there was a cartridge (as for the Defence Ministry Anto terrorism Caucasian operations medal, non number, no cartridge).
