Hello Harri

In my opinion, the 1st one is not russian, not bulgarian, not ex-Yougoslavian (no idea which country it might come from, however )

-the 2nd is the aeronotic club of Kaliningrad.

Hope it will be usefull to you. May be our pal "kars" will be more helpfull !

With my best regards !

Hi Harri

The first one is not from Karelia ??? because " PARHAIN " is the finnish name for " Paras " and KSSNT is " Karjalan Suomalainen Sosialistinen Neuvostotasvallan " And on the bottom of this insigna the word look like " Karjalan " , but i don't know if it's in finnish or Karelian or Vespe

Harri look to this way

See you .

Good Heavens, this is embarrassing .
First thanks to jipe and KR48 for their assistance identifying these insignias .

My friend asked me to identify these two and as I couldn't, I sent them to the Forum. I didn't even pay much attention to them as I don't want to deal with Soviet/Russian para insignias as there are so many fantasy insignias and fakes among them.

So I just glimpsed this and didn't notice that the language is Finnish. I was expecting cyrillic letters so I didn't even look. Damn me.
KR48 is right, the letters KSSNT mean Karjalais-suomalainen sosialistinen neuvostotasavalta, which means Karelo-Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic. This area is that part of Finnish Karelia that Finland lost to Soviet Union in Winter War and with this name it was known between 1940-1956. This gives the time perspective dating that badge.
The word Parhain actually has nothing to do with paras at all. It means the best and the lower word is urheilija, which means sportsman. So this is propably para or glider sportsbadge (or any aviation) for the civil paras or aviators trained by DOSAAF or some other civil aviation club sponsored by Soviet Army. It is more than propable that it has been manufactured in the 50's instead of 40's.

Cordialement, Harri
