hello everybody
1810 ( 22 may - 3 june ) : the russian commander Count Kamensky with his Moldavian army stormed the Bazardjik ( or Pazardjik ) fortress ;
turkish garrison : 5000 / Russian army : 23.000
the russian force killed 3000 men , captured 2000 men , and lost 1000 men
Tsar Alexander the first awarded the members of his army who distinguish themselves in the storming , but who did not receive either the order of St. George or St. Vladimir : the non-officers by a silver medal , and the officers by a nice gold cross
We can found 2 models of the gold cross : 39x39mm and 29x29mm ( perhaps for cavalry?)
sometime , we can found too a bronze cross ( the officer sold or lost his gold cross and replaced it by a bronze cross ? ) : this detail is given by Mr Robert Werlich in his book :
Russian orders, decorations and medals, including those of Imperial Russia ; the Provisional Government, the Civil War et the Soviet Union p 39. ( unfortunatly I haven't got this book : I'm very interested if a forum member can send me a copy of this page ...)
what do you think about this bronze cross ( 35x35mm ) ? : for me it's a good one , but I know we have specialists in this forum
the bronze is a yellow bronze ( if this cross is cleaned , I think it's look like gold ! )
waiting for your advices
best regards
Gal Fabvier
