| Bonjour a tous, After the Gulf War French troops were issued Koweitian Liberation of Koweit medal. In photos I have seen French soldiers wearing 2 models: Most common one is having a "spider web" style pattern behind the central medallion and in other type the backround is smooth. What is the difference? Different class? Is there a French manufacturer for this medal? I believe this medal has 5 classes and although a long search I haven't seen them all to register their differences. The other question concerns the Saudi Arabian Liberation of koweit medal: Is there a French manufaturer for those issued to French troops? Thank you in advance, Cordialement, Harri. |

| Thank you FAB and SLR 95. My main question is which Gulf War medals were awarded to French soldiers and who manufactured them? What is the difference between the one on left side and on the right side on SLR95 photo? Both seem to be in use, but are they different classes as the appearence differs? And also who has manufactured them? Cordialement, Harri. |

| Merci FAB, checked finally the link and I think I now understand. So all three types of photo above were issued to French troops. If anyone knows on which base some got 3. and some 4. class, I could use the info and also the manufacturers name of the Koweitian medal. I've been informed by a British collector that Saudi medal was partly manufactured by Huguenin in Switzeland and Spink & Son in London, so would like to know if any French manufacturer made any of the original ones for French troops or made the replacement medals. Simple fact is that I need the French used versions to my collection if they exist, not the versions made in some other country, although they might look the same. Sincerely Yours, Harri. |

| Hello again, Just one more question about the Gulf War. I read recently from American militaria discussion forun that some US Bronze Stars were awarded to French troops. Can anyone confirm this? If the answer is yes, which other foreign decoration, exept the three (one Saudi and two Koweitian ones) seen in the photo from FAB, the French soldiers earned in this war. Salutations, Harri. |

| Hi,
There were some Bronze stars awarded to the French troops. In the 2nd foreign Legion infantry regiment it was awarded to.............. 2 American legionnaires ;-)
I think the colonel did not know who should get it.... so they did. Maybe some officers as well. |

| Hello Chris, and thank you very much for clearing this Bronze Star subject for me. Do you kow if any other foreign medals were awarded to French troops, especially Legion? Any other Saudi or Koweitian medals for example? Is your Saudi medal privatey purchased by you or why is it made of genuine silver? Would like to see a picture if possible. Thanks again and Salutations, Harri |

| Bonjour again, one further question concerning this subject. Did all French soldiers who participated the Gulf War receive both the Saudi and the Koweitian medals, or is it possible to reveive only one of these? Helps me identifying fake mounted ribbon bars or mounted ribbon groups from originals. Yours, Harri. |
