| Bonjour a tous , Does any memer of the Forum have any statistics about annual amount of CdeG, or citations, awarded between 1915-18? I mean how many crosses or citations were awarded in 1915, how many in 1916 etc? Cordialement, Harri. |

I have doubts that accurate counts ever were made of the number of citations during the four years (and more in some cases) of World War I. The number of crosses would be even more difficult to evaluate, since a large number of men received several citations but only wore one cross.
An educated guess would be a minimum of 1.000.000 citations and several hundred thousand crosses. Observation of large numbers of crosses found on the market seem to indicate that the 1914/18 dates are the most frequent, with 1914/1917 - 1914/1915 and 1914/1916 in that order, the last being the least frequent (I dare not write the scarcer).
I sincerely hope other members of the forum have better information.
Best regards Vétéran |
