CREATING YOUR AVATAR AND OTHER USEFUL STUFF

Top of any page, click on the "Profil" tab …

On the top of the page you’ll note the following choices :
Informations – Préférences – Signature – Avatar – Sujets surveillés
(Information – Preferences – Signature – Avatar - Watched topics)

1. Informations :

Part 1 "Enregistrement" is where you can change your e-mail address and change your password (1st empty box for your current password, 2nd box for your new one, 3rd box for reconfirming the new password)

Part 2 "Profil" contains a number of fields you can fill in – most of them are self-explanatory. Useful are : "Site web" where you can insert the URL of your website and "Thème" where you can mention your field(s) of interest (e.g. WWI medals, Napoleonic era militaria, …).

To make the changes work, click the "Enregistrer" button, to undo use the "Réinitialiser" one.

2. Préférences … probably better left alone but you may want to change the time registration to reflect your time of day (one but last line).

Autoriser les membres à me contacter par email : authorise members to contact me directly by e-mail – suggestion = NON – after all there’s a system in place to send personal messages.

Cacher sa présence en ligne : hide your presence on line … OUI = yes, NON = no …

Toujours m’avertir des réponses : always warn me of answers … OUI = yes, NON = no …

M’avertir des nouveaux Messages Privés : always warn me of personal messages … suggestion = OUI for yes, it’s pretty useful.

M’avertir des MP provenant d’un mailing : always warn me of personal messages initiated by a mailing … OUI = yes, NON = no …

Ouverture d’une Pop-Up lors de nouveaux Messages Privés. : allow a pop-up window announcing personal messages … OUI = yes, NON = no …

Ouvrir la popup des nouveaux rapports : open a pop-up window announcing new reports … OUI = yes, NON = no …

Etre averti par mail si un nouveau rapport est posté : mail message when a new report is posted … OUI = yes, NON = no …

Toujours attacher sa signature : always attach one’s signature … OUI = yes, NON = no … (Creating the signature is explained below)

Toujours autoriser le BBCode : always allow BBCode … OUI = yes, NON = no …

Toujours autoriser le HTML : always allow HTML … OUI = yes, NON = no …

Toujours activer les Smilies : always activate Smilies … OUI = yes, NON = no …

The rest is self-explanatory … don’t forget the "Enregistrer" button below to confirm the changes !

3. Signature : "Prévisualisation" shows your current signature – this should be empty when you first access this page. Under "Editer la signature" you can type in the signature you want displayed at the bottom of your messages.

Gras = bold
Ital. = italics
Soulign. = underlined
Image … same in English
Lien : link
Flash … same in English

4. Avatar : only one avatar can be in place at one time. Avatars are limited to 150x200 pixels and cannot exceed 64 kB.

Lier l’Avatar à partir d’un autre site : link to an avatar from another site

Sélectionner un Avatar à partir de la Galerie : select an avatar from the gallery

5. Sujets surveillés : this page shows the forum topics you’ve decided to follow closely. In order to indicate a specific thread to be so monitored, click on the "Surveiller les réponses de ce sujet" link at the bottom of a thread’s page.
